Billing and Payment

Fees Policy

Richmond Health Clinic is a privately owned and managed general practice.

We are now a Medicare-bulk-billing clinic. This means eligible Medicare cardholders can have standard Medicare-covered GP consultations bulk billed, with no out-of-pocket consultation fee.

Please bring your valid Medicare card to every appointment. If your Medicare details are not up to date, or if the service is not eligible for a Medicare rebate, a private fee may apply.

Medicare Bulk Billing

Richmond Health Clinic bulk bills eligible Medicare services for patients with a valid Medicare card.

Bulk billing means the clinic accepts the Medicare rebate as full payment for eligible consultations. In these cases, there is no gap fee payable by the patient for the Medicare-covered consultation.

Services That May Not Be Covered by Medicare

Some services are not covered by Medicare and may still attract a private fee. These may include:

  • Non-Medicare consultations or services: These are charged privately and are not claimable through Medicare.
  • Medico-legal consultations: This includes consultations for Worker’s Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accidents, legal reports, insurance matters and related assessments.
  • Occupational medicine: Insurance medicals, employment medicals and some workplace health assessments are not able to be rebated by Medicare.
  • Forms, reports, and certificates: Some paperwork, medical reports, letters, and administrative services may incur a separate fee.

Fees for non-Medicare services will be advised at the time of booking or, where possible, before the service is provided.

Concessional Patients

As Richmond Health Clinic is now a Medicare bulk-billing clinic, eligible Medicare-covered consultations are bulk-billed for patients with a valid Medicare card.

This includes:

  • Pensioners and Health Care Card holders
  • Children up to the age of 16 years
  • Concession card holders
  • Veterans: Veterans may authorise the service voucher where applicable.

Medico-Legal Consultations

Medico-legal consultations, including Worker’s Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident consultations, are not usually covered under standard Medicare billing.

Accounts are rendered separately for medico-legal consultations. Patients should confirm payment arrangements with the clinic, employer, insurer or relevant third party before the appointment, where applicable.

Occupational Medicine

Occupational medicine services, insurance medicals and employment-related medical assessments cannot be rebated by Medicare.

Private fees apply for these services.

Payments

Payment is required on the day of service for any private, non-Medicare or non-rebatable service.

Richmond Health Clinic accepts:

  • Cash
  • EFTPOS
